Our SHA trail ride season begins soon. Rides are normally held on the third Saturday of each month, October through April, except for the Christmas Ride. Our Poker Ride fundraiser is an extra ride in March, and the date is not yet determined. Dianne Blanding has volunteered to head the Trail Ride Committee, taking over as Chairman from Barb Houck who has had this position for most of the past 20 years. We're looking for volunteers to help plan rides, scout rides, or lead rides. Give Dianne a call at (480) 205-1890. We've come up with a partial ride schedule, but can use more involvement in planning. For a good time in the saddle come out and join us on the following rides:
Bring along water and a trail lunch. Any questions? Call Dianne (480) 205-1890 or Barb at (928) 476-2431 or (623)694-2603.
Everyone participating in a ride must observe our Trail Ride Rules.
STATE LAND PERMIT
As of July 1, 2010 changes have been made to State Land Permit fees. Individual permits are now $15 and are good for 1 year. Family permits are now $20 and are also good for one year. For more information about the types of permits available or to download a permit application go to the Arizona State Land Department Website at www.land.state.az.us.
According to the Arizona State Land Department website, State Trust Land users need to know that: 1) Arizona Trust Land is land managed by the State Land Dept. Trust Land is not Public Land! 2) A recreation permit is required to camp, hike or travel on Trust Land that is designated as open for recreation.
3) A recreation permit is an agreement between you and the Department to allow limited recreational activities conditional on your continued responsible behavior. |
